Hey everyone! It’s time to do my weekly recap for last week. This post was previously called Workout Recap. Still the same stuff, just changed the title. As I write this. it’s Sunday evening. Why does the weekend seem to always go by so fast? I need more weekend! 🙂
Sunday, August 2nd – Bike workout at home. My gym started a policy that members need to wear a mask WHILE they workout as of August 1st. So, I put my account on hold for now. I’m okay with wearing it in and out of the gym and when I’m not working out, but I can’t really workout with a mask on. So, I did my bike workout at home. Got in 13.2 miles in just over an hour.
Monday, August 3rd – Bike workout at home before work. Got in 12 miles in 56 minutes. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I love the gym, but I also like being able to workout at home. Nice being able to get dressed and just hop on my bike without driving in my car to the gym 10 minutes away.
Tuesday, August 4th – Tuesday morning run with my Galloway group. We did a hill run, well they are sort of hills. LOL! It’s a neighborhood near where we meet up and it’s got some inclines we use for hill repeats. It was quite hot and humid, definitely was a tough one.
Wednesday, August 5th – REST DAY.
Thursday, August 6th – Track Thursday run. Workout was 1000s x 5. I got in 4 of them. Warmed up with a lap of walking, then got into the workout. After each 1000m, did a 200m walk in between. Then did a cool down lap of walking. Another great speed workout.
Friday, August 7th – REST DAY.
Saturday, August 8th – Long run with my group. Did 8 miles, mostly in Baldwin Park. It was still hot out, but I felt better than I did during the previous weekend’s 6 mile run. Having a neck fan and cooling towel were a big help. I don’t know what I’d do without at least my cooling towel during these summer runs.
How were your workouts last week? Anyone do a virtual race?
I’m linking up with Deborah from Confessions of a Mother Runner, and Kim from Running on the Fly. Check out their blogs and linkup!
You got in some great mileage this week. It’s great to the option to work out at home as well. It is hard to wear a mask while exercising so I am working out at home for the foreseeable future. Glad to have you join us for the weekly run down. Have a great week!
I do all of my workouts at home as well, except for the running and biking. Well, this past week, even some of the running happened at home (due to the doggy nurse duties LOL). I cannot imagine working out with a mask…sorry, I really think that’s a lot to ask of people (though I do understand they’re just trying to be pro-active).
Great job! I wouldn’t want to wear a mask working out (and I have zero desire to be in the gym right now), so I get putting the account on hold. I hope it gets back to normal-ish soon.
A neck fan? I’ve often thought of something like that but didn’t know they really existed for running. I wear my cooling towel often & we’re nowhere near as hot & humid as you! It makes a huge difference.
I truly can’t imagine working out in a mask. I went for a walk with a friend yesterday and we both got really hot with our masks on — outdoors!
I’d most definitely be putting a gym membership on hold if it meant working out in a mask. Ugh. That has to be so uncomfortable. Great miles for you this week!
If wearing a mask was the only way that I could work out, I guess I’d adapt to it, but geez I just can’t imagine. Thank goodness for home and the outdoors.
I know, I just can’t wear a mask while working out. Before and after, I can do.
Thanks for having me!
Yeah, I see why they may want to ask for the masks, but it’s hard enough to workout without a mask! Ha!
I miss the “old normal” so much! Really want to be able to do things like we used to. I pray the old normal comes back sooner than later.
Yes! The neck fan is a bit awkward for running really. I have just been trying out new things. Anything to keep cooler. Sometimes, I wonder how I trained for marathons in this weather!
I’m glad to see so many fellow runners/fitness friends agreeing with the masking wearing being such a pain while working out. I’m already huffing and puffing when I push and am sweating like crazy!
Agreed, I always pray and hope for good weather for my runs. 🙂
Good for you on completely both a hill workout and intervals in one week. 1000-meter repeats are my least favorite of all the different repeats. Not sure why, but I’d even rather do mile repeats. Perhaps it’s because it’s an odd distance that I can’t visualize in segments of a mile. LOL
Yes! It’s such a weird distance for sure. I prefer 800s or something. LOL!
I had some great workouts last week. Part of it was that we had cooler weather in Chicago in the beginning of the week. Now the hot weather is back.
I cannot imagine wearing a mask while working out. Are all gyms requiring their members to do that?
Luckily we don’t need a mask while working out at our gym, but I just haven’t had the time to go back regularly yet! When the cooler weather hits, and I stop riding my bike I’ll go back. Good workouts this week!
