The Weekly Chase #14

Happy May! As I write this, it’s Cinco de Mayo. I don’t really “celebrate” that holiday myself, but I know many people do. I’m just happy to be on the mend! I’ve been able to start getting back into my regular schedule of life the last day or two. Got in my first workout in a week yesterday. I did an almost 11 mile bike ride with my trialthon training buddy, Terrie. It felt good being able to get back outside.

After the ride, I was feeling pretty good (sure the coffee after helped get me energized as well), and I got into a cleaning frenzy. I cleaned and vacuumed out my car and did a big clean-out of my bedroom. It was nice being able to get some needed cleaning done. But today, I am definitely feeling it! While I wanted to get to the gym this morning, I woke up overly tired and with my back sore, so I opted to allow myself to go back to bed. May go to the gym tonight after work. I’ll have to play it by ear with my back, I don’t want to over-do it too much since I’m just getting back into things.

The plan for the week is to get my workouts in, but to take it easier for now. The last thing I want to do is cause myself to get sick again. So, I’m going to run for sure tomorrow morning as well as Thursday morning. I’d like to go to the gym on Wednesday, get in a bike workout there. On Friday morning, I’m planning on going to the Mayor’s Bike to Work event in the morning with the local cycling group. And of course, a group run on Saturday morning.

My only goal for last week was to get better, and I did that by resting up (sadly missing some work days and all of my workouts), and taking the medications my doctor prescribed. I think the new antibiotic is really helping with that.

As for this week…

1. Get back to running. I am anxious to get running this week, as I’ve missed it a lot. Going to be smart though, and not push myself too hard though.
2. Reading. I didn’t read much of anything while I was sick as it was hard to concentrate. So, back to the two great books I’ve been reading.
3. Buy my mom a gift. With Mother’s Day around the corner, I need to get my mom something nice. Still trying to decide what exactly to get though.

What are your goals for this week? I’d love to hear about them!
