This past weekend, I got some great miles in running and cycling. Definitely one of my best weekends of working out in awhile. It feels good to have gotten in a total of 29 miles.
On Saturday morning, I had a 16 mile long marathon training run with my running group. We started at 4am and used an interval of 30sec run to 60sec walking. The humidity was thick, and I was dripping by the end of the four plus hours of running. I had a bit of stomach woes toward the end of the run, but thankfully, it calmed down after I went home and relaxed for a bit.
The remainder of the day consisted of buying a new TV (my old 12 year old set finally went on me on Friday night) and getting in a few errands before enjoying an evening of movie-watching and spending time with my birds. I had planned upon attending a women’s self-defense class, but due to my stomach being upset, I decided to not overdo things after my long run.
My friend Liz and I went for a 13 mile bike ride on Sunday morning on the Cady Way Trail and in Baldwin Park. My legs felt pretty good at the start, but by the end, I was tired and definitely feeling it. In the middle of our ride, we had a little fun at the playground. Monkey bars and swings were things I hadn’t done since I was a kid and it was a blast. We didn’t care if anyone was watching or thought we were silly, we just had fun. Life is too short not to have play time.
My weekend ended with a movie from Redbox. Sure, I hurt today, but I wouldn’t change the way the weekend went for anything. Good friends and exercise are always awesome.
