The Weekly Chase #31

It’s been quite some time since I’ve done a Weekly Chase post (over 7 months), but I’ve decided to get them going again. A good time since I’m officially starting my training log/journal for marathon #5 as of this week. Even though I haven’t stopped running, I’m really kicking off marathon training in May. With 187 days until the NYC Marathon, it’s time to get things going.

This past weekend was good. My birthday was on Saturday, and I had a nice one. I started off the day with a local 5k race (race recap coming this week on the blog) with friends, then I went over to the parents house and spent the day with them. Family is important to me, so it was basically a friends and family day. It was a great run, as I actually got a new 5k PR! As I get older, sometimes it’s just about spending time with those I love no matter what we are doing on special days. Then on Sunday, I slept in (the one day I can do that usually), then got some errands done and got in my gym workout. It was important for me to get my workout in, especially after I had a bit too much junk food on my birthday (So Delicious ice cream is soooo good!).

Looking ahead, as far as workouts go, here’s what I’ve got planned for the week.
Monday – Cross-training at the gym
Tuesday – Run in the morning & a run in the evening in Melbourne
Wednesday – Rest day
Thursday – Run in the morning (possibly track workout)
Friday – Rest day
Saturday – 6-7 miles with my running group

There is an event with Skirt Sports founder, Nicole DeBoom in Melbourne on Tuesday night, so I’ll be driving over to finally meet Nicole and get in a little evening run with her (if I can keep up LOL). I may add in a gym workout on Wednesday evening, I’m going to play it by ear on that for now. When at all possible, when my running mileage isn’t high I’d like to just take Fridays as my rest day for the week. But, I like to listen to my body and if it needs the rest, I try not to argue with it (even though rest days can be hard at times).

I was planning on driving over to Jacksonville after work on Friday and running The Players 5k on Saturday morning, but it’s looking like I’ll be staying in Orlando after all. Too bad Jacksonville is over 2 hours away, I love being a part of as many DONNA events as possible. I’m sure I’ll get up there one year.

What do you have planned for the week? Are you training for any races or have any races coming up?
