Thankful Thursday

One of the running blogs I follow, Ali on the Run does a weekly “Thankful Things Thursday” post. I like the idea so much that I’m going to try to do it each week myself starting right now.

January was a rough month for me with the sudden, too-soon passing of our beloved parrot, Mocha as well as the bronchitis that I am finally kicking. So, I’m more than happy and ready for a new month. Bring it on!

I am thankful for my family. They may be annoying and all at times, but if it wasn’t for them, things would surely be different. I couldn’t imagine dealing with the loss of a loved one without my mom and dad nearby. And, my Aunt Kyle and Aunt Linda are always there when I need someone to talk to.

Obviously, this is not my family, but they are so cute I couldn't resist. Not to mention that penguins are just awesome.

I am thankful for my job. With this never-ending tough economy and job market, I am grateful that I not only have employment, but that I am surrounded by great co-workers. When I was out sick last week, they were concerned and told me that they were glad to have me back in the building when I returned on Monday morning. Talk about a way to put a smile on my face.

I am thankful for my health. I’ve been through a lot with my back injury and being pretty sick last week, but things could have been a lot worse. I feel as though because I take better care of myself these days, that I am able to bounce back faster than I used to from illnesses. Now, if I could become immune to viruses, that would be even better, but hey, you can’t have everything.

I’m thankful for my Brooks running shoes. After having been sidelined for close to two weeks, I was so excited to lace them up and hit the pavement this morning. Also, I think they missed me. Running shoes are meant to be moving, not sitting in the corner all still and alone.

I’m thankful for Bob Harper. I brought him into my home again this week. Okay, not really, but I did get his multivitamins. Is it odd that I like staring at his picture on the bottle? He’s so adorable. I wish he could be my trainer.

I am thankful for my birds. While we sadly lost one of our babies a month ago, I don’t know what we all would have done without the remaining four. They have helped make this rough time a bit easier with their singing and cute antics. And, they are just awesome.

Just look at him, so sexy, you know you want him to be your trainer too.

I’m thankful for running skirts. Specifically, Skirt Sports. I just ordered another one today. I may just become one of those really cute chicks you see running in my next race. Not that I’m not already cute, but there’s just something about running in skirt that makes you extra cute and all.

I am thankful for tax return refunds. It’s so nice to be able to get some money back! I look forward to getting it so I can pay for the new laptop I bought just before Christmas as well as clearing out my credit card bill.

I am thankful for awesome Christian music. I am seriously loving music from artists like Newsboys, Mandisa, TobyMac, Laura Story and so many others. Not only do they keep my positivity up during the day, but I love adding some of the songs to my running playlist. Songs like Newsboys’ God’s Not Dead get my feet moving!

Those are just some of the things I am thankful for. What about you, what are you thankful for?
