Thankful Thursday: Thanksgiving Edition

I realize this post is late, but I still wanted to get it up before I headed to bed. It’s been a good day spent with my family. I spent the night at my parents house on Wednesday after work, so I didn’t have to drive there this morning.

When I woke up this morning, I got a run in (was planning on doing the local Turkey Trot 5k, but didn’t), then I got cleaned up and went to Whole Foods with mom. The place was packed! Thankfully, we were able to get most everything we were looking for sans pies. Yup, they were completely out of vegan pies! I was surprised, the last two years, it was never an issue. So, that said, guess who’s anxious to have apple pie on Christmas now? ūüôā

As I write this, I’m back home, getting things set for the morning when it’s back to the work grind. It was definitely great spending the day with my parents, brother and the birds watching movies (Planes, Train and Automobile & National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation). My babies (aka my birds) are spending a bit longer at my parents place and I’ll be bringing them back home this weekend.

I’m thankful for family. This was a nice Thanksgiving with the family. Fairly quiet and peaceful which is just what I like it to be. Family is important to me, so being with them regularly is just something I love doing. When it comes to the holidays, I hate being away from them, and have been blessed to be able to have them there most years.

I’m thankful for my job. I don’t know if I say this enough, but I really am thankful for this. Not only because there are so many still out of work, but because I work with some really great folks who I love seeing everyday. It’s all about the people. The people make a difference.

I’m thankful for vegan food. With so much emphasis on turkey this time of year, I am thankful that I eat such great food like Tofurky and Field Roast. I had the latter of the two today and it was delicious. Made for my third compassionate Thanksgiving.

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? How did you spend your day, was it with family and/or friends?
