The Swing of Things

I’ve been trying to get back into the swing of things the last few days. Being sick ended up knocking me out of doing anything but work for a little over a week. It started as a crummy cold and spiraled into a stomach bug which I’d have to say was worse than a stuffy nose.

As of this past Saturday, I got myself back up and running, literally. I went on my first run since my 18-miler the Saturday prior. Ran 6 easy miles with my Galloway group which was a great way to start the long holiday weekend. I was feeling about 80% during that run, thus the reason I took the pace so easy. Thankfully, the girls in my group who ran with me were up for a “fun run.”

The remainder of Saturday was basically spent relaxing at home watching Criminal Minds (one of my favorite shows right now). That evening, I went to Northland Church for the first time. It’s about a 20 minute drive from my place which isn’t too bad. The service itself was awesome, I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be going back to the church again.

Sunday morning, I was able to sleep in which was nice and a rarity. With work and running, sleeping in can be a luxury during marathon training season. After getting in a late cycling workout at the gym, I packed up an overnight bag and my birds and headed to the parents. Had to get some family time in during the long weekend.

Sunday late afternoon until Monday evening was spent doing a few errands and hanging out with the family. Sometimes, it’s nice to relax and do a lot of nothing. 🙂

This week, I’m getting back on track with my training. Fortunately, missing a couple of days of running and some cross-training days wasn’t too big of an issue. I’ve got 8-10 miles this Saturday on the schedule. Then on Saturday night, I’m going to Disney’s Night of Joy celebration at the Magic Kingdom. Looking very much forward to seeing tobyMac perform as well as Newsboys, Francesca Battistelli and others. I’ve been a fan of Toby’s since his dc Talk days, so it’s definitely a performance I’ve been waiting to see for years.
