Since I last blogged, I had a busy last few days. After Ladies Night at Track Shack, I headed over to a friend’s house in Kissimmee to house-sit/dog sit for her while she and her husband were on vacation. We both work for the same company and work from home, so that worked out pretty well.
I ended up having her two dogs follow my every move for the four days I spent there. And, I had a sleep friend each night (did you know that dogs snore? they can also sound like Chewbacca apparently). I love animals of all kinds, so it was a fun experience. Though, I have to admit that I’m more of a cat person when it comes to the four-legged creatures.
On Saturday morning, I woke up at 4:30am to get ready to drive to Orlando for a run with my group. It was a good little drive from her house, but it was oh so worth it to run with my girls. We ran a total of just over 9 1/2 miles and the weather was pretty nice for a change. It was still warm, but the humidity seems to be letting up a bit.
Later, a friend invited me to go to the runDisney expo for the Tower of Terror 10-miler. I had been considering going, so I was happy to accompany her down to Mouseland. The expo itself was considerably smaller than the two I’ve been to this year. Tower of Terror is a smaller race weekend, so I suppose it’s silly to compare it to Marathon weekend or Princess. But, we had a good time walking around a bit and talking to people. It’s always a highlight being able to talk to Jeff Galloway! I was fortunate to be able to meet his wife, Barbara as well. She’s very sweet and I was glad to hear that her ankle injury was healing up and she was slowly getting back her running legs.
That evening, I went to church at Northland. It is slowly but surely becoming my church home. I had been thinking of checking it out when I was invited by one of my Dream Chaser friends from my running group. I really do feel great going to Northland and hope to get more involved there soon.
On Sunday, I didn’t have a lot going on, but I did head back over to Disney to the Beach Club resort for the Mickey Miles Podcast meetup. I love the podcast and it was great finally meeting Mike and Michelle as well as other listeners, most of which ran the Tower of Terror 10-miler the evening before.
