Product Review: Vega Bars

Disclaimer: Vega asked me to try some of their bars (some new flavors/kinds) and review on my blog. No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

I love Vega. Vega makes THE best vegan protein powders, bars and supplements on the market in my opinion. So, when they asked me if I would review some of their bars, I nodded my head indefatigably and jumped up and down on my bed (okay, not really, but I did do a little happy dance).

For those unfamiliar with Vega, they make plant-based diet and nutrition powders, supplements and bars. Created by endurance athlete Brendan Brazier, Vega is a whole food diet that’s completed plant-based that helps athletes train harder and recover faster. It all started with an all-in-one nutritional shake, what we know as Vega One and eventually became an entire line of award-winning nutritional supplements.

Hmmm, which one to eat first? It was hard! :)

Vega One All-In-One Meal Bar. I received two different meal bars, Chocolate Cherry Almond and Chocolate Peanut Butter. Both of them tasted amazing. I did prefer the Chocolate Peanut Butter as I do love my peanut butter! But, the Chocolate Cherry Almond was good! I’m not a huge fan of cherry flavored bars, but this one was just right. It wasn’t overpowering at all. Very good with the chocolate. Each meal bar has 12g of protein, 4g of fiber, 1g of Omega-3, 1 serving of greens, 1 billion dairy-free probiotics, 25 added vitamins & minerals and antioxidants.

Vega Snack Bars. I received the new snack bars from Vega in Cranberry Almond and Dark Chocolate Mixed Nuts & Sea Salt. How can you go wrong with sweet and salty as a combination? The answer is, you can’t. These bars are awesome. Chocolate and nuts are just meant to be friends, and the dark chocolate mixed nuts is hands down my favorite between these two. The cranberry almond is good, it’s more of a trail bar that you can carry with you and not worry about melting chocolate. Vega also makes snack bars in Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Dark Chocolate Cashew Cherry and Coconut Cashew flavors. Each bar is gluten-free and made from superfood whole food ingredients.

Vega Sport Energy Bars. The Vega Sport line has my favorite Vega products in it. As a runner, I use this line all the time. Vega sent me the Apple Cherry and Chocolate Coconut Almond flavors of the energy bar. Again, I loved the chocolate bar, and the combination of it with coconut makes it taste more like an unhealthy treat than a healthy bar. The apple cherry was also great, but again without the “melting factor.” Each bar has 27g of carbs from whole food ingredients as well as high and low glycemic carbohydrates for immediate and sustaned energy.

Vega Sport Protein Bars. These are my absolute favorite bars! They sent me the Chocolate Mint and Chocolate Coconut flavors. The chocolate mint bar is like heaven wrapped in a protein bar. Of course, I also love mint and chocolate (Thin Mints anyone?), so maybe this one was a no-brainer for a thumbs up. The chocolate coconut bar is also excellent. Each Sport Protein bar has 15g of complete, multisource, plant-based protein, 2.5g of BCAAs, 2g of glutamine and 1g of Omega-3.
