The Girl's Got Sole - NYC Marathon Dreamer

Here it is again the eve before the big TCS NYC Marathon lottery drawing. My love and dream of being back on Staten Island staring upon the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge on November 5th lives deep within me. The New York City Marathon is a race like no other, and I can’t imagine any other race being as special to me.

In 2015, I was blessed to have gotten into the TCS NYC Marathon. It was one of the greatest year’s of my life, and I remember the excitement of the experience as if it were yesterday. From the moment I learned I got in, through the miles and miles of training, to race day itself…IT WAS AMAZING. All I could think about since crossing that finish line in Central Park was, ‘when can I do it again?’

As crazy as that may sound, even though that 26.2 journey through five boroughs was one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life, I want to do it all over again. I close my eyes and can see it all in front of me once again. It’s a dream that I find myself needing to relive.

After finishing in 2015 and getting my medal.

Tomorrow, when the TCS NYC Marathon lottery selection is going on, I will be praying and hoping 2017 is my year yet again. Knowing my concentration on just about anything else will be nearly impossible, I even took the day off from work. Will I be stalking my bank account all day? Let’s be honest, absolutely yes I will be! Going to try not to be too crazy, but I already know I will be driving family and friends nutty during the wait. 🙂

So, if you’re like me and will be waiting nervously tomorrow for your credit card to be charged that $295, know that you are not alone. It’s a rare moment that I WANT to see that amount of money sitting in my ‘pending transactions’ in my account. That’s the first sign that you are officially in for the 2017 TCS NYC Marathon. That glorious, beautiful acceptance email comes later (and yes, it’s everything you imagine it to be).

Good luck to everyone else I am sharing this lottery anticipation with. It’s going to be a special day for thousands of runners by the time March 2, 2017 is over.
