It always seems that the holiday season just creeps right up on us. So hard to believe it’s already the end of November. This week is Thanksgiving week, and that means a short work week. I work Monday through Wednesday, then I’m off Thursday and Friday. I usually end up having to work on the Friday after Thanksgiving, so it’s nice to have the day off for a change.
Not that I’m going to be going out shopping mind you, I will be sleeping in and avoiding the crazy crowds. I prefer to shop online or when the stores aren’t so busy. Having worked retail for years, I experienced the Black Friday madness enough to last me for many, many years to come. Maybe even for the rest of my life (okay, maybe not that long, but you just never know).
Last Thursday evening, I got to experience The Salt Room for the fist time with a running friend. It was pretty cool, I felt that it helped my sinuses. I did feel a lot clearer after I left the session. I can see myself going back soon if I can find a good deal on groupon or something. Unfortunately, the location closest to me which I went to that night doesn’t really offer groupons, so it would be for another Salt Room location a bit further away. While I would prefer to stay closer to home, but if it’s cheaper to drive a bit, I’m game.
Looking back at my workouts last week, I had three great days of running. I felt like I am getting my running legs back after the NYC Marathon at the beginning of the month. With Space Coast Half Marathon & Half Marathon in a week (next Sunday), I would love to PR if at all possible. I haven’t improved my half marathon time in awhile, and Space Coast is where I got my PR marathon time back in 2013. So, it’s a good course for getting a PR.
I’m excited about Space Coast Marathon & Half Marathon for a number of reasons. One, is that it’s the third year of the Big Bang Series, so I’ll be getting TWO medals at the finish line this year. I am looking forward to getting that Milky Way medal! Secondly, Space Coast is like a big running community family reunion for so many runners. This is a race that I see so many friends and it’s awesome. I hope to get many hugs and of course a lot of photos!
And, as far as Thanksgiving goes, I’ve going to get a 3-4 mile run in with some of my Galloway friends first thing in the morning, as I’m not doing the local Turkey Trot this year. Then, I’ll be off to my parents house for the day. We usually watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and just hang out. Since I’m off from work the next day, I’m going to spend the night making it easier to relax and enjoy some family time without having to rush back home that night.
Stay tuned for a review this week of the new Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16s! I have been wearing them since the NYC Marathon and I can’t wait to share my product review with you.
