Where did the weekend go? Feels like it went by at light speed! I had a blast though pacing the 2018 Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon yesterday. I paced the 3:30 finish time and enjoyed helping runners achieve their goals. I even met some first-time half marathoners! That is always cool!
After having oral surgery to remove my top two wisdom teeth last Monday, I was glad to finally start feeling like myself again. I actually did good on the day of surgery, even was able to watch the Boston Marathon coverage! The next day went well, and it seemed my discomfort came on later in the week, like day 4. I hated having to take the pain medication again after stopping it on the 2nd day, but it did help when I had to work. By Saturday morning, I felt more like myself again.
Since I had the surgery last week, my workouts were less than usual. I ended up doing CT on Sunday before the procedure, then resting Monday and Tuesday. I’m stubborn though, so I went to the gym on Wednesday morning before work for some CT on the bike. I then felt okay enough to get in a 3 mile run on Thursday morning with some of my group. On Friday, I went back into the gym for more CT before work. Then, Saturday was a rest day since I had the half marathon on Sunday.
This is a funky week for me. By that, I mean I turn 40 in a couple of days, and I’ve got a mixed bag of feelings going on about that. It hit me again on Saturday when I picked up my bib for the race. It said, age 39. My last race as a 39-year-old. Is it weird that 40 is bugging me like this? I guess it’s a milestone number sort of thing. That and that I don’t FEEL like I’m going to be 40. Where did the time go?
Anyway, let’s make it a great week! 🙂
I am currently 46 as of last week and honestly, the age that has been hardest for me was turning 29. There was something about that number that screamed OLD. Now? I hope everyone feels as young as I do!! It is true what they say, age is just a number!
