It’s 13 days into 2018, and I can’t help but wonder where almost half of the month has gone. Since January 2nd, we have mandatory over-time of 4 hours a week for at least the month of January due to the high work volume. Don’t get me wrong, I love the extra money on my check (which is needed to pay off NYC and my hospital bills), but it can take a lot out of you.
I log into work Monday through Friday at 8am, and work until at least 5:30pm right now. By the time I am able to clock out each day, all I want to do is lay in my bed like a lug. Thankfully, I’ve been able to get my runs and gym workouts done before work, so a post-work nap is possible (and definitely happens LOL).
That all said, I feel like I spend so much time in front of a computer working, it’s a bit difficult to want to get on my laptop some nights. So much to blog about and such, but I yearn for non-screen time. Though, I admit that I do flip on the TV and watch Law & Order, Live PD or some other prime-time show to wind down from the day.
My goals for 2018 have overall started out pretty well thus far. Since I haven’t had a chance to post them on the blog, here are my goals for the year (in no particular order):
– Get back to basics, eating whole foods
– Lose 8-10lbs
– Give up energy drinks (back to coffee & tea only)
– Study the Bible
– Pay off debt
– Get on a budget
– Work on getting more sleep at night
– Blog at least 3x a week
Those are my main goals for the year. I’m not a resolution maker, I make goals for myself. Not into the whole New Year’s resolutions. Goals, both short-term and long-term work best for me I’ve found.
I’m doing well on my goal to give up energy drinks. I haven’t had one in about 10 days now. All coffee for my daily caffeine-fix! My eating is improving, though I did go off a bit last weekend during the Disney Marathon events, since I ran the half and didn’t stay on my set plan that weekend like I should have.
I’ve started listening to Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University CDs, which I am enjoying and learning from already. My Bible study will really kick off later this month when I start a class at my church every week.
Feeling good about where the year is going to lead, and I know that some good things are coming in the next few months! I just need to keep praying and stay positive! 🙂
