This weekend went by pretty fast, but isn’t that how it always seems to be? We work all week long, get excited about the weekend, and before we know it, it’s Sunday night and Monday is peering around the corner. Oh well, we all have to pay the bills and all that I suppose. 🙂
My weekend started off with a local 5k here in Orlando. Every year, there’s a ladies-only race called, Lady Track Shack 5k. I’ve done this race twice before, the first of which was my first race back in 2010. I met with some fellow Orlando Galloway girls and we drove over to Mead Gardens which was the race site.
It was a bit of a colder morning (well, for us Floridians anyway), but we knew once we got moving we would be good to go. I ended up running the race with friend, Zaida who is a bit faster than me, but the pace we kept was a good one for both of us. I haven’t really done any speed work lately, so it was good to put some speed into it. We both couldn’t feel our toes and our legs were numb for about half of the race, and we had kind of wished we ran the mile or so up to the start. Would have helped for sure with warming up I think. I crossed the finish line in 39:35, which was pretty good for me. Not my best 5k time, but it’s only a couple of minutes slower. So, I was definitely pleased with that.
The rest of Saturday was spent mostly relaxing and resting and seeing my parents who live about 40 minutes away. I haven’t seen them in at least two weeks, so I was happy to spend some time with them, especially my mom. We watched Groundhog Day and just spent time together. Decided to spent the night, so I didn’t have to drive back home when I was tired.
This morning, I woke up and went to church nearby in St. Cloud. I had gone to the church when I was living with my parents, but it has been awhile. The service was nice, the pastor talked about listening to God. Something I feel I could be doing more of for sure. Afterwards, I went back to my parents place, got my stuff together and headed back home. On the way back, I did my Whole Foods shopping.
Before dark, I went out for a walk to the local supermarket (was missing a couple of things), and took my camera along. On the walk back home, I stopped and took some pictures of Lake Ivanhoe, which is one of my favorite places these days to run around or just enjoy it during a leisurely walk. It was a great evening for a walk and I saw a lot of people walking dogs or just out enjoying the beautiful weather as well.
How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting or fun?
