Never heard of it? Well, you’re not alone, because it was a new one on me when my doctor’s office informed me what my most recent blood work found. Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune disease where your immune system attacks your thyroid gland. Symptoms include extreme fatigue, increased sensitivity to cold, depression, muscle aches especially in hips and shoulders, puffy face, and muscle weakness. The good news is, it’s fairly easily treated with hormones. The doctor just needs to find the right dosing for you.
So, as of tomorrow, I’ll be on Synthroid medication. She’s starting me out with a low dose and we’re going to see how that goes and do blood work again in November. I really think this is the culprit of my severe exhaustion. I can’t wait to get my energy levels back and to feel like myself again.
