It’s the holiday for us crazy runners, Global Running Day! As I write this, I’m on my lunch break during the workday, but hey, I get to run tonight! I’m grateful for the ability to be able to lace up my running shoes and head out the door on a run. It’s definitely something I don’t take for granted.
Running has been such a blessing for me, I’ve met so many amazing people in the running community. My local group, Orlando Galloway has been like extended family to me since 2012. These are people, friends I get the fortunate opportunity to run with three days a week. Not to get too mushy (but hey I can go for mushy at times), these friends have helped me get through so much over the last few years. For me, running is a big social sport and that bond we create makes it so awesome.
The online running community is also important to me. I have gotten to know a lot of great fellow runners through RunChat, WeRunSocial and BibChat. Not to mention because of this blog. I’m thankful for these great people who share the love for running crazy distances like 13.1 and 26.2 miles for fun. We may all have different reasons for running, but in the end, it’s all about running and all the goodness it brings to our lives.
I’m looking forward to running with Track Shack tonight at 6pm for Global Running Day. Doesn’t matter how fast, slow or even how far, just that I get out there and run. While each day I can run is a blessing, today is just a designated day for that to be vocalized and for the community to really come together. Gotta love that! 🙂
