Yesterday was our season-ending Victory Breakfast for my Galloway group. Our full season runs from June through the end of February. This was my second year running with Orlando Galloway and they have not only helped me become a better runner, but made my life so much better.
The breakfast always has a theme each year, this time around it was Wild West. Talk about a fun theme, everyone could come dressed as cowboys/cowgirls, indians, pioneers, etc. We are fortunate enough to be able to use a room at the clubhouse in Baldwin Park, so when everyone arrived before the party began at 8am, the set-up and decorating began! The empty room soon became a wild west wonderland.
The itinerary of the morning consisted of lots of mingling, food, a slideshow and award recognition. The food as always is brought in by everyone and we always seem to have a great deal of it and quite the variety. The highlight of the breakfast for me though besides seeing everyone when we’re not running is the year-end slideshow. Everyone can send in photos from throughout the season and one of our great and talented guys creates a video show with music.
All in all, fun was had during the morning’s festivities. Our 2013-2014 season may be over, but the memories will always remain. June kickoff will be here before we know it with old faces and new ones alike. In the meanwhile, a number of us will still get out there and run during the maintenance time, as there are still races to be run before the summer begins!
