This will be one of a few blogs I’ll write between now and Sunday, the day of my half marathon.
It’s hard to believe that a year ago, I not only wasn’t running again yet, but that I hadn’t even done my first half marathon. Here I am nearing the end of 2012 and my third half marathon. It’s been a great ride.
This Sunday, I’m running the Lighthouse Loop Half Marathon in Port Orange. If you are unfamilar with the area, it’s in between New Symrna Beach and Daytona Beach. I’m pretty familar with Volusia County not only because I have family there, but I because also lived with my grandmother in Edgewater while I went to Daytona State College (was Daytona Beach Community College at that time). I’ve never run there though, so I look forward to running in a “new” area.
As far as my goals are for the race, honestly, they are just to finish and finish strong. I want to finish with a smile on my face, feeling good. Sure, I’d love to PR, but I’ll see how it goes. I feel like I’ve grown as a runner in just the last four months with my Galloway trainung group. I’ve come to realize that while it’s great to be fast, it’s not about how fast you are as long as you are out there running and doing your best.
