2013 was quite a year for me. Dare I say that it was an awesome year. I accomplished so much and did things I never thought possible last year. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you are determined and put in the hard work. Looking back, I wanted to talk about a few of the moments or events that really stand out for me. Of course most will be running-related because 2013 was the year of running for me.
WDW Half Marathon (January). This was my first runDisney race and first race of 2013 and it was a blast! Once I got used to how crowded the course is, I just enjoyed it. I now would like to do more runDisney events!
26.2 with Donna (February). My FIRST marathon ever! Talk about a memorable weekend and experience. I will NEVER forget running the Donna and cannot wait to run that weekend every year (just not the full, ha). I feel like the training and almost 7 hours on the course really changed me in a good way. A marathon is a challenge, but it really teaches you things about yourself, especially about what you are truly capable of.
Asheville vacation (April) . I always love visiting my favorite mountain town because not only is it extraordinarily beautiful, but I have a number of friends there. I had a great time with friends and just being out in the fresh mountain air with my camera.
Galloway training (June). The new season of Galloway training kicked off in June and thus year two for me with Orlando Galloway. I love these people, some have become close friends. We are all a bit nutty and that works for me. The support is like no other! I wouldn’t trade this group for anything.
Florida Blogger Con (September). I feel like I learned a lot from this one day blogger conference and feel blessed to have my blog and to be able to connect with people through it. Social media is awesome and I’ve also met some great folks online!
Space Coast Marathon (December). Marathon #2 took place on December 1st in Cocoa. I had fun not only wearing a costume (Star Trek) for this one, but it was a test of my strength and determination. I wanted to do better than I did at the 26.2 with Donna and I did it. Just finishing was awesome, but doing better than my first marathon made the accomplishment sweeter.
The Biggest Loser RunWalk (December). The biggest excitement about this race weekend for me was meeting some of the former contestants that I’ve come to talk to online. They are some inspiring people who I respect and it was so great to finally meet them. Oh, and I did P.R. at the half the next day. 🙂
Those are the stand-out moments for me, and I had other great things happen of course. How was your 2013? Any event or memory really make your year?
Definitely some great memories for you in 2013!! May you have even more in 2014. 🙂
