The Carmel Marathon weekend takes place in Carmel, Indiana. The event offers a marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k, and marathon relay for participants. All race distances utilize the same start and finish line, which is great for spectating and cheering on fellow runners. The finish area features a DJ and Sam Adams Beer Garden, with plenty of space to relax and hang with friends after the races.
The 10th Anniversary of the Carmel Marathon Weekend was scheduled to take place on June 14th. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the actual race has been postponed. Runners can however do a virtual run, defer until 2021, or wait to see if a Fall race date is possible. I was given the opportunity to run the 10k virtually, and I’m looking forward to it. I see these virtual race opportunities as a way to try out a race from the comfort of your own backyard, and maybe run it in person next year.
For those doing the virtual race, you can choose your distance and complete your run until September 1st. Then, upload your results from your Garmin (or other GPS watch) or tracking app to the link provided with your registration confirmation (also on the virtual race website). Once the race receives the results, your swag bag will be mailed! Race swag bags will start being mailed out the week of June 22nd.
Run your virtual race on your own, or with friends being sure to practice social distancing. Photos are highly encouraged! Post your photo(s) on social media and tag Carmel Marathon. Be sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to celebrate with everyone else!
